What is Rehabilitation? Sports, post surgical and general rehabilitation are addressed at the practice. Following an injury, once the local area is treated rehabilitation may be given, particularly if the problem is over 3 weeks old. Research has shown that there may be an absence or dampening down of key skills, such as, force, flexibility,co-ordination,balance,endurance.Unless this is undertaken a reoccurrence of the initial injury may take place. The osteopath will encourage the patient to improve these skills. A principle based approach is adopted rather than a rigid protocol. This encourages a high level of creativity on the part of the practioner and a challenging environment for the client. Mark has attended numerous post graduate courses with Professor Eyal Lederman(www.cpdo.net), the Osteopathic Sports Care Association(www.osca.org.uk), Leeds university and numerous other leading Therapists and scientists. This has been supplementing by extensive teaching within nursing ,occupational health ,Osteopathy and martial arts over a 20 year period.
